City Signed Cooperation Agreement Regarding Disaster Management in Jakarta

Jakarta Provincial Government built cooperation with 37 competent institutions as a partner in implementing Disaster Management in Jakarta.

The point of this cooperation is to gather available assistance at local level for preparedness and emergency response,

Those institutions are expected to improve city resilience in facing disasters, especially activities related to flood and post-flood disaster management in Jakarta.

For handling the disaster, especially flood, Jakarta Secretary's Assistant for Community Welfare, Catur Laswanto stated, it needs support from various sides to ensure disaster can be handled effectively during the flood and post-flood period.

"The point of this cooperation is to gather available assistance at local level for preparedness and emergency response, as well as reduce negative impacts of flood disasters in a fast, precise, effective, and efficient way by utilizing the available resources," he said after signing the MoU at Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (2/26).

This cooperation includes the mapping and information of the flood affected areas; reminding and gathering support in form of fund assistance and others for flood and post-flood disaster management; managing fund and other assistance for flood disaster management from other parties thus it can be given on target.

"As well as flood disaster management supports that related to evacuation, logistic assistance, health, technology and information, social impacts, report on the use of other funding support, monitoring and evaluation," he explained.

According to him, this MoU is the legal basis for the parties in carrying out their tasks as a form of their support for flood and post-flood disaster management in Jakarta.

Partners should inform Jakarta government through accountability report over the use of donations received from other parties via cooperation partner's account and other assistance addressed to the flood victims.

"This cooperation agreement is valid for six month after it is signed," he conveyed.
